A Constant ICT Performer Rises Up The Ranks

Finland’s 2010 Connectivity Scorecard performance shows consistency on all sub-categories except consumer infrastructure where it is moderate. Consumers show one of the highest rates of internet usage, banking and e-commerce, although low infrastructure scores highlight the main weakness. It has lower than average download speeds but 3G is high with most having access to broadband.

The country scores well on business metrics, and is among the top scorers in terms of the proportion of businesses that have access to and are using broadband services.

Business usage and skills scores are impressive, indicative of Finnish businesses investing large sums in IT services as well as having access to a high-quality workforce including a high density of research specialists. Finland’s attention in providing e-government services and involvement in knowledge creation shows, with enterprises and the public making high use of these.
