Norway’s 2010 Connectivity Scorecard highlights its consistence performance in almost all categories. It leads all countries in consumer usage and skills, where it reports the highest usage rate of online banking, frequent internet use as well as adoption of e-commerce. It’s business usage and skills score is impressive with outstanding performance in e-transactions and internet presence among companies. It is a very strong performer on virtually all government metrics, with a high proportion of the general population utilizing e-government services.
Consumer and business infrastructure score shows room for improvement with the country showing a lower 3G penetration and deployment of next-generation consumer broadband infrastructure. Business broadband uptake and secure server penetration are relatively high, but enterprise telephony penetration could be developed. Norwegian businesses appear to invest less in information and communication technology (ICT) hardware, software and related research and development.
